The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday suspended the State Secretary of the party, Lawrence Okah.

Confirming the suspension to The Punch, the Edo State APC chairman, Anslem Ojezua, said Okah was suspended to allow the committee set up to investigate the allegation levelled against him do its job.

Ojezua stated that suspension was not a punitive measure but a normal administrative procedure of the party.

“He was just suspended to allow the committee set up to look at the complaints against him. We have not expelled him, no it is not like that. The suspension is not punitive it is just a normal administrative procedure,” he said.

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State had dismissed reports that he is plotting to dump the APC for another party.

The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, had accused Obaseki of plotting to leave the party.

Reacting while receiving members of the Godwin Obaseki Support Group, in Benin, the governor reaffirmed he has no plans to leave the ruling party.

He insisted that those oppose to him in the APC are the ones that would leave the party for him.
