There are rumours that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria IMN, otherwise known as Shiites are planning to protest in seven strategic states across Nigeria today.

The states includes, Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi and Gombe state.

The Shiites have been advocating the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been detained since 2015 after a clash between the sect and officers of the Nigerian Army.

On Monday, during a protest, the group shot dead a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Umar Usman. and a corp member, Precious Owolabi serving with the Channels Television, who was out on the field to report the event.

There have therefore been clamours from groups, both locally and internationally that the Federal Government should negotiate with the group.

Others have advised the government to release El-Zakzaky and other detainees of the Federal government.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Indications emerged that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had begun negotiating with the sect.
