1. Buhari orders NHIS boss to proceed on administrative leave

Prof. Usman Yusuf, the embattled Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has been ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari to proceed on an administrative leave.

Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), made the directive of the president public in a signed statement in Abuja.

2. Senator Adeleke arraigned in court over alleged exam malpractice

The Senator representing Osun West, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and four others have been arraigned before a Federal High Court, Abuja on a four-count charge of examination malpractices.

Adeleke and others were accused, in a four-count charge filed in the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of fraudulently, through impersonation, registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro Osun State to enable them sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017.

3. NLC rejects N22,500 as minimum wage, tell workers to prepare for strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress, has condemned the resolutions made by the Nigeria Governors Forum which offered to pay N22,500 as new minimum wage for workers.

NLC president, Mr. Ayuba Wabba opined that NGF was not known to law and was thus an illegal body which cannot give verdict on issues out its jurisdiction.

4. Nigerian Army finds missing Gen. Alkali’s body in a well

The Nigerian Army has located the remains of Maj-Gen. Idris Alkali’s body in an abandoned well in Guchwet in Shen, Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

The body was found in a village near the mining pond where his car was found and removed.

5. It is irresponsible to sell public assets to finance 2019 budget – Atiku tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the plans by the President Buhari led federal government to sell off some public assets to finance the 2019 budget.

Atiku, in his reaction, urged the federal government to retrace its steps as it doesn’t speak well of the administration’s policies.

6. FG rejects N22,500 minimum wage proposed by governors

The N22,500 minimum wage proposed by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has been rejected by the federal government.

Chris Ngige, Labour minister announced this today in an interview with channels television.

7. Another Ganduje bribery video surfaces online

Another video has surfaced and currently trending on social media from unknown sources, involving the Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in black Kaftan collecting bribe from a contractor.

Daily Nigerian editor, Jaafar Jaafar has already denied releasing the current video.

8. Buhari meets Tinubu and Oshiomhole behind closed doors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, met with national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the party’s National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu arrived the president office around 3:56pm, this is 24 hours after the president hosted aggrieved APC aspirants to a dinner at the State House.

9. FEC orders minister to summon security chiefs over Shiite protests

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Bello Muhammad, to summon a meeting of the territory’s security council to address Shi’ite uprisings in the territory.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this known when he fielded questions from State House correspondents at the end of the Council’s meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

10. Tinubu declares support for Oshiomhole amidst APC crisis

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has dismissed the call for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, saying party supremacy must be respected.

Tinubu made his position known when he fielded questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House Abuja on Wednesday.
