1. President Buhari promises to end impunity in Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has once again stated the resolve of his administration to continue to lead the fight against corruption and impunity while ensuring the rule of law.

He stated this while speaking at the 2018 annual general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association on Sunday.

2. APC wins all seats in Imo local government elections

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners of Saturday’s local government election across the state.

Mr Ethelbert Ibebuchi, Chairman of the electoral body, announced the results of the polls on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Owerri.

3. Niger Delta militants threaten to resume bombings

A coalition of Niger Delta militants has threatened to resume fresh bombings in the region if the country is not restructured.

The leader of the Niger Delta Watchdogs, Mr John Duku, in a statement in Uyo at the weekend noted that the threat became necessary following alleged anti-democratic actions by the federal government.

4. Atiku denies dumping PDP for APGA

The campaign office of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has debunked the story from a section of the media that Atiku has defected from the PDP.

A press statement on Sunday described the report as a malicious attempt to confuse the public about the aspiration of Atiku ahead of the forthcoming presidential primaries election of the PDP.

5. Lagos state government re-opens third mainland bridge

The Lagos State Government has announced that the re-opening of the Third Mainland Bridge which was temporarily closed for investigative maintenance test.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr Taiwo Salaam said the decision to reopen the bridge earlier than announced followed the completion of the test by engineers.

6. Kwara governor’s aide resigns to join APC

The special assistant on non-governmental affairs to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, Mr. Abdullahi Danbaba, who refused to dump the All Progressive Congress (APC) has resigned his position.

Danbaba made his decision known in a letter which was addressed to Governor Ahmed through the Secretary to the State Government.

7. No automatic ticket for Senator Shehu Sani – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that the National Working Committee has not given any Kaduna Senator automatic ticket for the 2019 general election.

The Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Mohammed Sani Ibrahim, in a statement, stated that there is no truth in the claims.

8. APC raises alarm over fake registration website

The All Progressive Congress (APC) have raised alarm over conspiracy to harvest it members ahead of the 2019 general elections through the introduction of a fake website, apcregistration.com.

Mr Yekini Nabena, the National Publicity Secretary of the party raised the concern in Abuja on Sunday, in a statement.

9. PDP reacts to Fani-Kayode’s invitation by the police

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Nigerian Police not to be used by the All Progressives Congress as an instrument to threaten and intimidate Nigerians ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The party, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said this in reaction to the ‘fact-finding’ invitation, extended to former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

10. Pope apologizes for cases of abuse within the church

The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has, in Dublin, once again pleaded for forgiveness on behalf of the abuse of power exhibited by some of its members.

The Pope who expressed disbelieve after meeting eight survivors of sexual abuse on Saturday, addressed a mass of about 500,000 people in Dublin on Sunday.
