1. President Buhari to celebrate Sallah in Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari has left Abuja for his hometown, Daura in Katsina State where he would celebrate this year’s Sallah.

The President recently returned from his vacation in London, the United Kingdom.

2. Tinubu is against me because I didn’t support him to be Vice President – Saraki

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has responded to a statement released by the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his defection.

He said his uncertain and complex relationship with Tinubu has been continually defined by the event of 2014 when himself and other leaders of the APC opposed the Muslim-Muslim ticket arrangement about to be foisted on the APC for the 2015 polls.

3. NECO releases 2018 SSCE results

The National Examination Council (NECO), has released the results of candidates that sat for its 2018 May/June examinations.

This was confirmed yesterday by the registrar of the council, Abubakar Gana, who said out of the 1,041,536 candidates who sat for the examinations, 742,455 of the candidates got at least five credits including Mathematics and English Language.

4. Boko Haram burns down 40 houses in Borno

At least 40 houses have been burnt down by Boko Haram insurgents in a reprisal in Mailari village in Guzamala local government area of the Borno state on Sunday, Borno State Police command have confirmed.

Commissioner of police in the state, Damien Chukwu, made this known at a news conference, while stating that the insurgents stormed the town around 8pm.

5. Senator Akpabio apologizes to Akwa Ibom people for imposing Governor Udom on them

Godswill Akpabio, former Senate Minority Leader, has revealed that he regrets imposing Udom Emmanuel, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, on the people of the state.

While Apologizing before a crowd at Ikot Ekpene Plaza, he stated that Emmanuel was the greatest mistake he made in a hurry and used the opportunity to ask for the peoples forgiveness.

6. Troops kill armed herdsmen in Benue state

The Nigeria Army of the Operation Whirl Stroke, have neutralized 10 armed herdsmen along Gbajimba-Akor-Tomata axis of Guma Local Government area of Benue, the commander of the operation, Major General Adeyemi Yekini (OPWS), made this known.

The commander also disclosed that about two soldier were injured, while one lost his life in an encounter with the herders who engaged the troop in a gun battle.

7. Buhari not targeting opposition with corruption fight – APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress, has said no member of the party, even people under President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet will be excused from the fight against corruption.

Yekini Nabena, the acting National Publicity Secretary of APC, called on Nigerians to petition the anti-graft agencies against any one found corrupt.

8. Tambuwal replies Tinubu over his defection to PDP

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has revealed he could defeat President Muhammadu Buhari to the 2019 presidential ticket of the APC if he remained in the party.

According to him, he has what it takes to compete with and defeat Buhari. He said this in reaction to Tinubu’s statement on why he defected from the All Progressives Congress to Peoples Democratic Party.

9. Security operatives arrest Biafra Zionists in Enugu

Several members of the Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, were early Monday morning arrested in Enugu alongside their self-acclaimed leader, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka.

A combined team of security operatives made up of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Police were said to have been involved in the operation after another failed attempt to enter the Enugu Government House for the inauguration of Biafra.

10. FG recognizes Pinnick as NFF president, avoids FIFA ban

The federal government of Nigeria has recognized Amaju Pinnick as the authentic president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

This brings to an end the NFF leadership tussle between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa which resulted in the World football governing body, FIFA threatening to suspend the country over government interference in football matters.
