1. Saraki addresses World press conference over NASS invasion

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday, addressed a World press conference to address the invasion of the National Assembly complex by security operatives on Tuesday.

The press conference held at the foyer of the National Assembly complex after Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara led other principal officers to the conference.

2. Senator Akpabio formally decamps from PDP to APC

Senator Godswill Akpabio of the Peoples Democratic Party has finally defected to the national ruling All Progressives Congress at a mega rally held at the Ikot Ekpene township stadium on Wednesday.

3. National Assembly may pass INEC budget next week

Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), has assured that the 2019 General Elections Budget of N242 billion will likely be passed next week by the National Assembly.

Mahmood, after an executive session with the leadership of the National Assembly on Wednesday in Abuja, made this development known while fielding questions from Journalists.

4. Saraki holds closed door meeting with IBB in Minna

Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, met with former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, in his Minna residence yesterday.

The meeting is coming 24 hours after the unwarranted Siege of the National Assembly Tuesday by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) and the press conference held by Saraki.

5. NASS and INEC leadership meet over 2018 election budget

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has briefed the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara at a special hearing on INEC’s budget for the 2019 general elections.

6. EFCC freezes Benue government accounts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen the bank accounts of the Benue State government domiciled in three banks.

Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Terver Akase, made this known in an interview on Wednesday.

7. Sacked DSS boss, Daura placed under house arrest

The recently sacked Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura has reportedly been placed under house arrest.

8. Court orders IGP Idris to arrest INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu

A federal high Court in Abuja has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to arrest the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu.

The court wants the INEC boss brought to court on August 14 to face contempt charge for violating its order.

9. EFCC Freezes Akwa Ibom government account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly frozen Akwa Ibom State bank accounts.

The state commissioner for information, Charles Udoh also confirmed the development stating that state authorities only became aware of the happening on Wednesday.

10. Real Madrid sign Thibaut Courtuois from Chelsea

On Wednesday afternoon, Chelsea and Real Madrid confirmed one of the most anticipated trades in this transfer window as Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, was sold by Chelsea to Real Madrid.

As part of the deal, midfielder Mateo Kovacic of Croatia, will be loaned to the English club for a year. The figures were not disclosed.
