1. President Buhari calls for regional integration to fight insecurity
President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Lome made a strong appeal for inter-regional collaboration on maritime security, the fight against terrorism and other crimes through effective border control.
The President made the call while contributing to the consideration and adoption of the Draft Declaration by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Peace, Security, Stability and the Fight against Terrorism and violent Extremism in the Togolese capital.
2. Benue state House of Assembly serves notice of impeachment on Gov. Ortom
Some members of the Benue State House of Assembly on Monday, moved to impeach the state Governor, Samuel Ortom.
The eight lawmakers belonging to the All Progressives Congress (out of 30) earlier served an impeachment notice on the governor over allegations of diversion of state funds and abuse of office.
3. Imo state assembly impeaches Eze Madumere as deputy governor
Imo state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere has been impeached by the Imo state house of assembly.
The impeachment came after nineteen of the 27 lawmakers in the assembly voted in favour of the cause at plenary on Monday.
4. APC dissolves state executive in Kwara state
The State Executive of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State has been dissolved by the National Working Committee of the Party.
This development is in consonant with the agreement by the party, signed by the National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, and its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni on Monday in Abuja after the NWC meeting.
5. Kano state house of assembly impeaches its speaker
The Kano State house of assembly has impeached Abdullahi Attah, as its speaker while a former speaker of the house, Al Hassan Rurum has been elected the new speaker.
Rurum had resigned as speaker of the assembly in July 2017, and has now returned as the speaker.
6. Three INEC officials in prison over N179m Diezani fund
Three officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission has been remanded in the Ikoyi Prison, by the Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday.
Justice Muslim Hassan, gave the order shortly after the officials attached to the Ogun State office, were arraigned for allegedly laudering N179.8m.
7. I stopped Shehu Sani from defecting from APC – Balarabe Musa
Balarbe Musa, former Kaduna State Governor, has revealed that he urged Senator Shehu Sani not to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party from the ruling All Progressives Party.
The former Governor stated that Adams Oshiomhole, APC national Chairman and the party leader, Bola Tinubu, were among the people that persuaded him from leaving the party.
8. Benue state assembly suspends 7 members for six months
The Benue State House of Assembly, Monday suspended for 6 months the 7 members who held an illegal sitting under the leadership of the impeached and suspended Speaker with the help of the police.
The suspended members are: Terkimbi ikyange -(Impeached speaker), Adanyi Benjamin, Terhemba Chabo, Benjamin Nungwa, Bem Mngutyo, Adams Okloho, James Okefe, Nick Eworo.
9. Soldiers arrest 5 notorious armed robbers
Nigerian soldiers have arrested five robbery suspects at Felele, along Lokoja – Okene highway.
According to a statement by Texas Chukwu, the army spokesman, the suspects were caught wearing military camouflage and robbing innocent commuters.
10. Buhari denies involvement in Benue impeachment saga
The Presidency on Tuesday said there was no truth in the claims that President Muhammadu Buhari has a hand in the move by minority members of the Benue State House of Assembly to remove the state governor, Samuel Ortom.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in a statement made available to journalists, saying Buhari would never be part of any unconstitutional act.
