Kano Assembly Gets New Speaker

The Kano State house of assembly has impeached Abdullahi Attah, as its speaker while a former speaker of the house, Al Hassan Rurum has been elected the new speaker.

Naija News recalls that Rurum had resigned as speaker of the assembly in July 2017.

Attah was accused of mismanaging funds, lateness to duties as well as inability to carry other members along in House duties.

Following the change in House leadership, the lawmakers visited the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje at the Government House where they briefed him on happenings and latest developments in the house.

Speaking during the visit, new speaker, Al Hassan Rurum, assured the governor of support from the lawmakers with the executive arm to achieve set objectives.

He also denied rumours that some of the lawmakers have defected to the PDP.

In his response, Governor Ganduje urged the lawmakers to make laws that would promote development, while advocating support for Buhari and the APC in general.
