1. Presidency appeals to National Assembly to suspend recess

The Presidency has appealed to the National Assembly to suspend the ongoing recess and attend to requests by President Muhammadu Buhari pending before the legislature.

The Presidency pleaded with the lawmakers to reconvene and approve Buhari’s requests in the interest of the country, adding that the development would frustrate some organs of the government.

2. Offa robbery: Police investigators visit Saraki’s office

Senate President Bukola Saraki has been interrogated by the Nigeria Police in his office on Thursdays over his alleged involvement in Offa, Kwara State, bank robbery.

Saraki met with a group of detectives from the Intelligence Response Team of the Police in his office in the National Assembly.

3. Dino Melaye kidnapped by unknown gunmen

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen yesterday.

The news was disclosed by another senator, Ben Murray-Bruce on his Twitter page.

4. Gunmen kill 4 in Zamfara mosque attack

At least four people have been reported killed by unknown gunmen who attacked a mosque at Kawddi village, Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.

The attack, which occurred around 8pm on Tuesday, also left up to eight people injured.

5. Shehu Sani denies been part of plot to impeach Saraki as Senate President

Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna south, has stated that he enjoys a good relationship with Senate President Bukola Saraki and would not join others in any attempt to impeach him.

Describing the reports as the handiwork of his opponents, Sani said he will continue to support him.

6. Ministry of justice tells IGP Saraki has no link with Offa robbery suspects

The Ministry of Justice has said it cannot establish a link between Senate President Bukola Saraki and suspects arrested in connection to the robbery in Offa, Kwara state, and urged the police to carry out more investigation on the matter.

The police had alleged that suspects had “direct link” to Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of Kwara.

7. FCT police denies knowledge of Dino Melaye’s kidnap

There may be cause for alarm as the Federal capital territory police, said it does not know about the Kidnap of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Dino Melaye.

Senator Melaye was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday on his way to Kogi state as disclosed by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.

8. I’ll only support aspirant that will lead Nigeria to promised land – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday stated that the inaction of those elected to speak out against the evil in the society are to blame for the woes in the society not necessarily those who perpetuate the killings experienced in the country.

Obasanjo also promised to support anybody that would take Nigeria to it place of fulfillment.

9. Kwara political group calls for Saraki’s resignation

The Yaman Support Group, a political campaign group in Kwara state, has called for the immediate resignation of Dr. Bukola Saraki as the Senate President of Nigeria.

The group accused Saraki of making undeserving political negotiations which were not in the interest of the masses.

10. Army repels Boko Haram attack in Borno state

The Nigerian Army and the Police on Thursday repelled an attack by Boko-Haram insurgents who attempted to invade Jakana town in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno.

Reports say that dozens of the insurgents armed with high caliber weapons, stormed the town at about 5.30 pm but were repelled by the gallant troops.
