1. It’s too late to stop our defection, R-APC tells Buhari

The Reformed-All Progressives Congress on Sunday said it was too late for President Muhammadu Buhari to start dangling juicy carrots before its members in order to stop their defection from the ruling APC.

The APC faction stated that the Buhari government was not a promise keeper because it had not fulfilled what it promised Nigerians during the electioneering in 2014 and 2015.

2. JAMB remits N7.8b to federal government

About N7.8 billion has been remitted to the Federal Government by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Head, Media and Information, made this disclosure on Sunday in Lagos, disclosing that the the amount remitted was the excess gotten from the conduct of the board’s 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

3. Senator Adeleke emerges Osun PDP governorship candidate

Senator Ademola Adeleke, representing Osun West, has emerge the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Osun state

Adeleke defeated his closest challenger, Akin Ogunbiyi, by a slim margin of seven votes as he won won by a close margin, securing 1569 votes while Ogunbiyi had 1562.

4. Saraki bags chieftaincy title as new Waziri of Ilorin

The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was conferred with the traditional title ‘Wazirin Ilorin’ by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at a special thanksgiving prayer session organized by the Emirate over the recent victory of Saraki at the Supreme Court on his case with the federal government over allegations of false asset declaration.

By the elevation, Saraki who is also Turakin Ilorin becomes the fourth Waziri Garin, succeeding his father, the late Dr. Olusola Saraki who held the title until his demise in 2012.

5. PDP calls emergency NEC meeting over 2019 elections

The Peoples Democratic Party has called an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee over demands by some members of its coalition group for the 2019 general elections, The PUNCH learnt on Sunday evening.

The NEC meeting will follow the meeting of its Board of Trustees, both of which will hold in Abuja on Monday (today).

6. Gowon calls for arrest of Miyetti Allah leaders

General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), Former Nigerian Head of State has expressed his displeasure over the incessant killings of Innocence and unarmed farmers all over the nation.

Gowon expressed his disappointment with the failure of the security agencies in the country to deal with the continuous killings, when he visited Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom in Makurdi , the Benue State Capital to commensurate with the state and the families of people who have been casualties in the attacks.

7. APC, Buhari getting jittery ahead of 2019 – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has become jittery over the mega coalition between the PDP and 38 other political interests, leading to his resort to hauling of misdirected insults and abuses on the PDP.

The PDP said Oshiomhole’s resort to insults betrays the confusion of a depressed politician seeking to cover his personal vacuity and inner fears of the inevitable defeat awaiting President Muhammadu Buhari and his dysfunctional APC in 2019.

8. PDP leader shot dead in Lagos state

The Peoples’ Democratic Party chairman in Apapa local council in Lagos was shot Saturday after a meeting between factions of the party ended in violence.

Borishade Adeniyi, who was known as the ‘Doyen of PDP LG Chapter Chairmen in Lagos State,’ was allegedly shot and injured in the leg during the meeting which held at Igbosuku village in Eti-Osa local council.

9. PDP gives Saraki, Tambuwal, others, two weeks to defect

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly given members of the Reformed -All Progressives Congress (R-APC) two weeks ultimatum to defect back into the PDP.

The PDP and R-APC have been having talks and negotiations over the last few weeks about a possible switch for aggrieved members of the APC ahead of next year’s elections.

10. Mezut Ozil retires from international duty

As a result of the ripple that accompanied his controversial meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mesut Ozil, Germany/Arsenal Midfielder has announced his immediate retirement from international football.

While citing “racism and disrespect” as the reason for his early exit from international football, Ozil made the announcement of his retirement on Sunday evening.
