8 Kidnappers Arrested By Police In Delta State

Eight suspected kidnappers, including a wanted kidnap kingpin have been arrested by policemen in Delta State, after they were found relaxing in a hotel after an operation.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Muhammad Mustafa, told newsmen “Following the kidnap of Okeme and other kidnap cases within Asaba/Sapele/Warri and environs, a team of the Special Anti Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, SAKCSS, led by a CSP arrested one Henry George, 31 at Usiefferun Ughelli North local government area of the state.”

” The suspect on interrogation confessed being member of a the gang that perpetrated the acts. A total of six suspects have so far being arrested and the investigation continues,’ he said.

Mustafa asserted that in another incident, said:“Based on intelligence, the O/C Anti Kidnapping, received information that a notorious kidnapper, 39-year-old Austin from Emede Ogbolo in Isoko South, who had been on on the wanted list of the Police, was sighted at Ughelli.”

A team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer went in search of the wanted kidnapper. The search yielded fruit as he was arrested at Ughelli Guest House.

” The suspect confessed kidnap cases, including the kidnap of one Godwin Etabrita, which occurred October 14, 2016,” he disclosed.

According to him: “Police detectives arrested one Donatus, who in company of others at large, kidnapped Timothy Ikwulono at Infant Jesus, off Anwai Road, Asaba, at about 11.00 pm in front of his house in his Toyota Highlander which was later recovered.”

He said: “Donatus was arrested and is helping police with useful information. On June 24, the victim was released for n undisclosed sum of ransom. Efforts are in place with a view to arresting then suspects.”

On the case of Lukeman Babajide of Oyede town, who left home June 23, for Ughelli to see one Kennedy who invited on phone no. 07030592843, to link him up for a contract, but missing as at June 30, he said the police had commenced a rescue operation.

Commissioner Mustafa hinted that following a report to the police on the incident, findings revealed: “The same Kennedy called Ogechi Babajide, wife of the victim, that her husband was owing him the sum of N800,000 and will only be released after payment.”
