1. President Buhari visits Plateau state

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday visit Plateau state to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent gruesome killing of over 100 people.

The President during his visit, promised that perpetrators would be brought to justice.

2. Senator Abaribe granted bail after five days in DSS custody

After five days in Department of State Security Service (DSS) custody, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe has been granted an administrative bail.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr Uche Awom, the media advicer to the senator made this known, stating that he was released about 6.32 p.m.

3. EFCC applies for transfer of Shekarau’s case over security threats

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its lawyer, has applied for the transfer of former Kano state’s N950m trial through the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, from Kano to another judicial division due to security threat.

The case was thereafter adjourned till 18th October to enable them conclude the process of the transfer and expediently wait for the chief judge’s approval.

4. Plateau state gets new Police commissioner after recent killings

Bala Ciroma has been deployed as the new commissioner of police for Plateau State, following the evil assassination of over 100 people by suspected herdsmen on Sunday.

The new commissioner who was announced on Tuesday, is to resume duties immediately in the troubled state.

5. Timi Frank tells President Buhari to resign or put an end to killings in the country

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently put an end to the frequent killings of Nigerians in the recent time, especially in the North-central part of the country.

He made the call in an open letter to the President over the spate of killings and general insecurity in the state.

6. Don’t charge more than ₦2,000 for post-UTME, FG warns tertiary institutions

The federal government, has warned tertiary institutions in the country against charging more than ₦2,000 for post-UTME tests.

The warning was handed down by the minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu during this year’s Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Gbongan, Osun state.

7. Security operatives make arrest in connection with Plateau killings

Commander of the Special Military Task Force, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, has confirmed that three of the killers involved in the Plateau killings have been arrested, adding that they confessed to participating in the killing.

The arrested suspects have been giving useful information about others involved in the killings and their hideouts.

8. FG to include Plateau victims in N10b rehabilitation fund

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has assured victims of the unrest in Plateau State that they will benefit from the Federal Government’s N10 billion fund due to be released for the rehabilitation of farmers who have been displaced from their ancestral homes in the State.

Osinbajo disclosed this while briefing journalists in Jos after a closed-door meeting with warring communities in the State.

9. Ohanaeze advises Nigerians to stop lamenting and join politics

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has encouraged Nigerians to end lamentations and side-talks about the supposed ineptitude of political leaders, and participate deeply in the political process in order to produce quality and experienced political leaders.

President General of Ohaneze, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who spoke at The Authority Newspapers Award Night, in Abuja, stressed the need for eligible Nigerians to participate in the electoral process.

10. Super Eagles crash out of Russia 2018 World cup tournament

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, yesterday lost 2-1 to Argentina in their last group game at the Russia 2018 World cup tournament.

The loss means Nigeria once again fail to qualify for the next stage of the competition and have been eliminated from the competition.
