Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed

The Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has blamed the incessant killings and violence by herdsmen on shortage of resources in the country.

In an interview on TVC News Mr Mohammed said:

“It is not about democracy, it is not about religion, value-chain, economy or social views, for example in 1963 the population of Nigeria was just 52 million today the same country has population of about 180 million people.”

That means that the land, water and food required that was available for one person is been shared by four people today, therefore tensions are expected to increase.”

He also reiterated the fact that the government was working on unraveling those behind the violence.

I can assure you that some people masquerading as herders are not herders, in a short time we are going to give you more information on that.”

He however concluded his statement by absorbing President Muhammadu Buhari of any blame concerning the killings. He said ” The President will not preside over a country where Muslims kill Christians or the other way, or where one ethic group would kill another ethnic group.”
