President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of the appointment of Mr Edward Lametek Adamu as the new deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Edward Lametek Adamu is currently the Director, Human Resources of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

If confirmed by the Senate, Adamu will replace Sulaiman Barau, from Zaria, Kaduna State, who retired in December 2017.

Buhari in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said his appointment was in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the CBN (Establishment) Act 2007.

“President Buhari has nominated Edward Lametek Adamu and sent his name to the Senate for confirmation as deputy governor of CBN.

“This was contained in a letter dated January 26, 2018, to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

“Adamu, from Gombe State, replaces Mr. Sulaiman Barau, from Zaria, Kaduna State, who retired in December 2017.

“The nominee, who has spent 25 years in the CBN, was appointed in 2012 as Director of Strategy.

“He became Director, Human Resources in 2016, from where he was nominated as deputy governor,” the statement said.
