Fuel Scarcity: Queues Resurface In Filling Stations Across Nigeria

Fuel queues have resurfaced in many states across the country, despite previous assertions that fuel scarcity had largely been tackled.

fresh fears of another round of scarcity which marred Christmas and new year celebrations.

Many of the filling stations operated by major marketers are not selling while outlets owned by independent marketers are shut.

The executive secretary of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketing Association, DAPPMA, Femi Adewole, said if the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) can raise supply, they will be able to get to inland areas and focus on major cities.

Meanwhile, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, there has been no relief from fuel scarcity as, queues have been evident in fuel stations in various parts of the city.

Speaking with Naija News correspondent, residents complained bitterly about the lack of petrol, a product which most motorists use not only to power their cars but also power electricity in their homes.

A taxi driver, pleading anonymity, lamented that business has been difficult as passengers refuse to pay extra for routes they regularly ply, despite everyone’s knowledge of the fuel crisis.

Residents appealed to the Federal Government to find a permanent solution to the recurring fuel crisis in the country
