1. Presidency denies Buhari’s involvement in Fulani killings

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media, to President Buhari has rubbished rumours of complacency on the part of his boss in dealing with the clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the country.

He maintained that Buhari is a father to all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliations.

2. INEC releases 2019 election time table

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday released the time table for the 2019 general elections in the country.

The presidential election will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, the national assembly elections will be held on the same day, while governorship and state assembly polls will take place on March 2.

3. NECO announces release of 2017 Nov/Dec SSCE results

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2017 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination results.

This was announced on Tuesday at the Minna headquarters of the council by its Registrar, Prof. Charles Uwakwe.

4. 4 soldiers killed in Borno suicide bomb attack

At least four soldiers were killed while nine others sustained injuries in a suicide car bomb attack against a military vehicle near Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau’s camp.

The attack comes after troops from Nigeria and neighbouring countries launched major offensives against two Boko Haram factions and their leaders.

5. Court nullifies Senator Buruji Kashamu’s suspension by PDP

A high court sitting in Abuja, has overturned the suspension handed to Senator Buruji Kashamu by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a ruling delivered by Justice Valentine Ashi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, the PDP was also restrained from taking any further disciplinary actions against the senator.

6. Army kills over 50 Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state

Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to the Operation Lafiya Dole, have killed over 50 Boko Haram terrorists, injuring several others and recovering items such as AK47 guns, grenades, ammunition as well as livestock, foodstuff, motor cycles and donkeys.

The gun battle between the soldiers and the terrorists however, sadly resulted in the death of 3 soldiers, a Civilian JTF and also left some soldiers wounded.

7. Governor Ortom wants more soldiers deployed over Fulani and farmers clash in the state

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has disclosed he is open to the idea of deploying more troops in Benue in order to bring about peace and stability and ensure the brutal killings of innocent people of the state by herdsmen came to a halt.

Ortom said this on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the
Presidential Villa in Abuja.

8. Gulak may dump PDP in favour of APC

A former political adviser to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Hon Ahmed Gulak has announced his decision to quit Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said this at the recent PDP stakeholders meeting in Yola, Adamawa State.

Gulak while briefing the press in Yola said he resolved to decamp because of the controversial dissolution of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party by Makarfi caretaker executives.

9. PDP searching for 2019 presidential candidate

Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. walid jibrin, on Tuesday, said that the party was working to present the best presidential candidate from the North in 2019.

He said the party’s leadership in the North had already put in place machinery to ensure the emergence of the best presidential candidate from the area in 2019.

10. Alex Iwobi faces £60,000 fine for partying

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger says Alex Iwobi may be fined for breaking curfew to attend a birthday party ahead of the club’s FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.

The gunners were sent packing from the tournament following a 4-2 defeat humiliating defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
