Armed Bandits Cook, Eat, Before Robbing Family In Lokoja

A group of armed robbers who attack the residence of a couple in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital during the end-of-year fesitivities have been arrested.

The suspects, five in number, were paraded today Wednesday by the Kogi State police command.

The suspects invaded the couple’s home on the 28th December around 2am while the couple and their children were fast asleep.

Narrating his experience at the police headquarters in Lokoja, the victim Chris Edime told reporters that he was awakened by strange sounds of the robbers who invaded the children room and started ransacking the house.

He said: “They ordered us all to lie face down, two of them entered the kitchen to prepare food while two of them drove to the ATM to empty my account.”

Edime added that he is yet to find out how much loss he incurred as he is still uncovering lost items daily.

The state police public relations officer, William Aya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police,  during the parade said: “on the 28th December 2017, at about 0200hours, one Engineer Chris Edume, ‘m’ of Naval Quarters Area, Lokongoma Phase ll, Lokoja reported that unknown gunmen invaded his house, dispossessed him of his Infinity G35X Salon Car with registration no GWA67JS, his ATM card and other household appliances.”

He included that with the information, the state’s Directorate of State Security Services, Lokoja and operatives of the command launched a manhunt for the assailants and in the process arrested the suspects.

Comprising all males, the suspects arrested and paraded are 28 years old Yale Yunusa; 27-year-old Mohammed Kabiru; 26 years old Emmanuel Audu and 26 years old Musa Mohammed

One LG Plasma TV, one home theatre electronic, bag of rice, one single barrel gun, twelve assorted handsets and charms were recovered from the criminals, the police stated.

Aya said: “Further investigation led to the arrest of one Mohammed Ibrahim of Lagos from whom Infinity G35X saloon car was recovered.”
