1. Reps investigate suspension of SEC boss, Gwarzo by finance minister, Adeosun

The house of reps have launched an investigation into circumstances leading to the suspension of Mounir Gwarzo by Kemi Adeosun.

The House also ordered all parties to maintain status quo pending the outcome of the investigations.

2. FG sets up committeee for former vice president Alex Ekwueme’s burial

The federal government committee to oversee the burial of former vice president, Alex Ekwueme has been set up.

The committee is headed by the secretary to the government of the fedration (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha

All expenses for the burial will be paid by the federal government.

3. Fuel crisis worsens across major cities as consumers groan.

The shortage of petroleum products has persisted across major cities in Nigeria as queues re-appear in filling stations.

Many depots reportedly don’t have supply of the product while those that have are running skeletal services.

4. Diezani to forfeit more assets to the government.

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the temporary forfeiture of two additional properties in Lagos linked to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The properties were valued at $4.76m by the Economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC)

5. Metuh refuses to testify until Goodluck Jonathan appears in court.

The embattled former national publicity secretary of the PDP has vowed not to testify except former president Goodluck Jonathan appears in court with respect to the case.

The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, however, in his ruling, dismissed the submission as unknown to law and ordered him to continue his defence on Wednesday.

6. Senate probes SARS over alleged human right abuses.

The Senate has set up an Ad hoc Committee on Review of National Security Infrastructure to investigate human rights abuses by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The chamber’s resolution was sequel to a point of order by Senator Isa Misau. Misau noted that, in line with the Police Act and Regulation, the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, (Force CID) is the highest investigative arm of the NPF.

The committee is expected to make recommendations to the house after its sittings.

7. Oyegun attacks Atiku Abubakar over 2019 elections.

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief  John Oyegun has maintained that Abubakar’s exit from the party will not trigger an exodus.

Hespoke at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, yesterday, as his investiture as the national life grand patron the Association of Former Local Government Chairmen and Counsellors.

8. Strike: Government warns workers not to push it into invoking labour laws.

The Federal Government yesterday warned striking non-teaching staff unions in the universities under the umbrella of Joint Action Committee, JAC, not to push the government to invoke the relevant labour laws against them, if they continued with the strike.

The warning was handed down by the minister of labour and productivity, Sen. Chris Ngige.

9. Russia 2018: FG budgets N3b naira for World cup

Solomon Dalung, minister of youths and sports, has disclosed that the sum of N3 billion has been budgeted to prosecute the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

He promised the funds will be released early to help adequate preparations.

Nigeria have been drawn to face Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D at the World Cup.
