Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, announced on Monday that there will be no presidential broadcast on Coronavirus from Buhari today.

According to the media aide, no broadcast was planned or scheduled for today in the first place.

This online news platform recalls that the National Coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, had said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that President Buhari would address Nigerians in a national broadcast over the coronavirus pandemic today.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, denied Sani’s claim, saying no presidential broadcast was planned today and that whatever update was available would be passed on by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) during its usual briefings.

Following the update by Adesina, Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express their feelings over the news that President Buhari won’t be making any address. See some of their reactions:

Meanwhile, President Buhari has extended the first phase of the gradual relaxation of the coronavirus lockdown by another two weeks, noting that Nigeria is not ripe for total relaxation of lockdown yet.
