House Of Reps Postpone Resumption Date, No New Date Announced

The news that members of the lower chambers of the federal legislature in Nigeria, House of Representatives have taken delivery of brand new Toyota Camry 2020 cars has sparked reactions from Nigerians.

Naija News understands the first batch of the exotic cars have arrived and are parked at different parking lots within the National Assembly Complex.

It will be recalled that the lawmakers had at an executive (closed-door) session on February 5, 2020, approved the purchase of 400 units of the luxury car which is set to be distributed among the legislators.

A source within the National Assembly confirmed the arrival of the vehicles, noting that; “I was told 100 have already arrived and they are sharing them to new members who are not chairmen and deputy chairmen (of committees). The next batch will be for returning (ranking) members who are neither chairmen nor deputy chairmen. The last batch will go to ranking member with appointments.”

Some people who spoke to Naija News on the development described the action by the lawmakers as insensitive, particularly as it comes at a time Nigeria as a country is battling to contain the coronavirus disease.

This action has however not gone down well with many Nigerians who have taken to social media to express their views. See some reactions:
