Even If I Choose The Pope As Running Mate Christians Won't Vote For Me - El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai has enjoined members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the state to stop the quarrel among them and learn to live in peace.

The governor gave the advice when he welcomed the newly elected officials of the association who paid him a courtesy visit in Kaduna.

He cautioned the group that his government would not tolerate any breach of the peace.

El-RUfai said it is compulsory for members of the organisation to be allowed to elect their leaders, saying those not happy with the election should seek redress in court.

“Those who are not satisfied with the election should to go to court instead of causing chaos in the state,’’ the governor said.

The governor emphasized that peace is essential for the advancement of the association and promised the group that the government support to the new leadership.

Earlier, the new state IPMAN Chairman, Alhaji Bala Usman admitted that the group was unable to hold election for a long time as a result of internal crisis.

He however said with the elections held on October 21, the association would be able to contribute more significantly to the state economy.

Usman appreciated the governor for ensuring that the election was peaceful, and assured that the association would henceforth pay its annual ground rent to government without delay.

The chairman appealed with the governor to mediate on their behalf, for the reopening of their secretariat sealed by the management of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, due to the prolonged crisis in the association.

Other officials elected include Alhaji Garba Jega as Vice Chairman and Mr Solomon Ehizogie as Secretary.
