Crying In Movies Was To Differentiate Myself From Odunlade Adekola – Lateef Adedimeji
Nollywood actor, Lateef Adedimeji, has opened up about crying in movies, saying it is to differentiate himself from his colleague, Odunlade Adekola.
Naija News reports that Lateef, during an interview with media personality, Morayo Afolabi Brown, on her YouTube podcast, said fans often pointed out his resemblance to Odunlade in the early days of his career.
The movie star said he, however, wanted people to know him for something specific, hence his crying talent.
According to Lateef Adedimeji, his rise to prominence was due to his crying roles, as people often call him the ‘crying machine’ without knowing his name.

“When I came into the entertainment industry, people used to call me that guy that looks like Odunlade, but I wanted people to know me for a particular thing, hence my crying talent.”
Speaking about his Iya Peju comic character, the thespian said it started during lockdown, adding that he did not take it seriously until people started asking for more.
He stated, “The Iya Peju character started in lockdown, and it wasn’t something I took seriously until people started asking for more.”
