Tension Grips Ibadan As Yoruba, Hausa Communities Clash

Tension reportedly heightened on Wednesday in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, following clashes involving groups of residents.

Naija News learnt that the clash involved individuals reportedly from the Yoruba and Hausa communities.

There were also reports that a scavengers’ depot known locally as “Bolla” was set ablaze during the unrest.

However, the circumstances surrounding the fire and those responsible for it remain unclear.

According to Punch, officials of Operation Burst, the joint security outfit in Oyo State, have been reportedly deployed to the area to restore normalcy and maintain law and order.

Residents have been urged to remain calm, avoid affected locations and rely on updates from relevant security agencies as efforts continue to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.

At the time of filing this report, Security authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

In other news, goods worth millions of naira were recently destroyed after fire gutted several sections of the popular Bode Market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Inferno affected several shops, leaving traders devastated as merchandise, valuables and other goods were reduced to ashes.

The fire reportedly broke out in the early hours and spread through parts of the market before emergency responders arrived.

The cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.

Firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene and eventually brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the market.

However, emergency responders faced challenges due to the congested layout of the market and closely packed shops, which hindered access and firefighting efforts.

Bode Market is one of the largest markets in Ibadan metropolis and is widely known as a major trading hub for herbs, animal skins and other traditional products.
