Oyo APC Insists National Assembly Candidates Remain Unchanged
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has said the list of its candidates for National Assembly seats in the next general elections remains unchanged.
Naija News reports that the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Sadare said the list came from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) after processing results from the primaries held in May.
“The national secretariat of the APC has uploaded the names of its three Senatorial District and 14 House of Representatives candidates in Oyo on the Independent National Electoral Commission portal as required by law,” he said.
He added that the candidates had also filed INEC nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Sadare accused some aspirants who failed to secure tickets of misleading the public through social media.
“For the avoidance of doubt, nothing has changed from what was made public last week,” he said.
He named Senator Yunus Akintunde, Aderemi Oseni, and Hannah Ogunesan as candidates for the Oyo Central, Oyo South, and Oyo North senatorial districts, respectively.
The party listed its House of Representatives candidates as Akeem Adeyemi, Segun Odebunmi, Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, Akin Alabi, Olafisoye Akinmoyede, Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo, Tolulope Akande-Shadipe, Olamijuwon Alao-Akala, Olatubosun Oladele, Umar Farouk Alao, Ibrahim Iyiola, Sarafa Olaoniye, Saheed Adejare Yusuf and Yusuf Asimiyu Osuolale.
The APC warned those parading themselves as candidates to stop.
“To this end, we urge individuals parading themselves as APC candidates illegally to desist from doing so or be ready for the consequences of their actions. There cannot be two candidates for a single ticket, and as Democrats, one should make it a do-or-die affair,” the party said.
