Fresh Document Links SGF Office To Disputed PFIPC Boss

Fresh documents have emerged showing that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) approved the self-styled Director-General of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, to attend the Canada-Africa Fintech Summit in August 2025.

The development has raised fresh questions over the Presidency’s claim that the PFIPC never existed and that Adeyemi operated with allegedly forged documents.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Presidency had maintained that Adeyemi fabricated appointment letters and other claims linked to the council.

It also called on the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to identify and prosecute government officials who may have allegedly assisted him.

According to Vanguard, the document showed that the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nadungu Gagare, approved Adeyemi’s participation in the Canada-Africa Fintech Summit.

The document indicated that Adeyemi was authorised to join the Nigerian delegation to Canada for the summit scheduled from August 3 to 8, 2025.

Signed by Gagare on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the letter also directed Adeyemi to register and involve other stakeholders in the programme.

“In accordance with Mr President’s Economic Strategies on the Agenda. I invite you to participate in and join the Nigerian delegation to Canada from August 3rd to 8th, 2025,” the document read.

The letter described the summit as an initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic ties and attracting foreign investment.

“The CAFS Summit highlights strategic roles in Digital Finance and Technology, among stakeholders worldwide.

“This initiative will significantly contribute to shaping our economic vision, advancing development priorities, strengthening economic ties, fostering bilateral trade relations, and attracting foreign direct investment, FDI, to benefit the Nigerian economy,” it stated.

The SGF’s office further asked Adeyemi to involve other stakeholders in the programme.

“Given the above, you are urgently requested to register and involve other stakeholders in the programme. Your experience, technical support, and presence will strengthen this delegation,” the letter added.

The document further stated that Adeyemi could contact the Permanent Secretary of the Political and Economic Affairs Office and the summit’s organising group for additional information.

“For more information and details, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Permanent Secretary of the Political and Economic Affairs Office at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, and the CAFS Organising Group. Accept the warm regards of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” it read.

The emergence of the document has further deepened the controversy involving Adeyemi and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over the disputed PFIPC.
