Bauchi Former Deputy Governor Loses Two Children In Fatal Road Accident

Two children of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, have died in a fatal road accident.

Naija News learnt that the siblings, Mustapha and Ummi, died on Saturday after the vehicle conveying them was involved in a crash along the Bauchi–Azare highway while they were returning to Bauchi from Azare, the headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area.

They were said to have died at the scene of the accident due to the severity of the impact, and their bodies were later taken to a hospital in Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.

Reacting to the tragedy, the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, expressed profound grief and extended his condolences to Senator Baba Tela and his family.

Mohammed described the incident as heartbreaking and a painful loss not only to the Tela family but also to the people of Bauchi State, noting that no words could adequately console the bereaved family.

The governor prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant them eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and bless their family with the strength and patience to endure the painful loss.

According to the statement, the funeral prayer for Mustapha and Ummi is scheduled to be held at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
