Delta Workers To Get 13th Month Salary Bonus

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the payment of a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants in Delta State.

Naija News reports that the governor made the announcement on Wednesday during the Dinner and Award Night held in Asaba as part of activities for the 2026 Public Service Week celebration.

The decision was received with excitement as civil servants and other guests at the event applauded the approval.

Oborevwori said the bonus is being introduced to appreciate the dedication, commitment and efforts of workers who have continued to contribute to the development and progress of Delta State through the public service.

According to the governor, the payment is expected to improve the welfare of workers and encourage them to remain committed to their duties.

The approval also makes Oborevwori the first governor in Delta State to introduce a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants.

The 2026 Public Service Week was organised to celebrate public servants and recognise the role they play in carrying out government programmes and providing essential services to residents across the state.

In other news, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has revealed that the Federal Government is planning on reviewing workers’ salaries.

According to him, the ₦70,000 minimum wage, which was approved by the President Bola Tinubu administration in 2024, is no longer in line with the reality of things in the country.
