‘A Violent Change Will Be Inevitable, If You Make Peace Impossible’ – NDC Chieftain, Chikamnayo Tells Tinubu

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Eze Chikamnayo, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to keep his hands off the opposition parties.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, recently set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.

Naija News reports that, in an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Chikamnayo described the judgment nullifying the NDC’s registration as notorious and very dangerous.

He also alleged a deliberate onslaught by Tinubu against opposition parties.

Chikamnayo warn that a violent change will be inevitable if Tinubu makes a peaceful change impossible.

“There is a deliberate onslaught against opposition parties by the President.

“I want to use this opportunity to plead with his excellency President Tinubu to get his hands off the opposition parties.

“All it takes for peaceful change is for him to allow democracy to happen. If he makes peaceful change impossible, a violent change will be inevitable,” he said.

Meanwhile, the NDC, Seriake Dickson, has submitted that the party has not been deregistered.

He claimed that since Friday’s court ruling on the party’s status, more people have become aware of the NDC and have been flocking to its website to register as members.

Dickson made the submission while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

According to him, there is no need for alarm despite the court verdict setting aside an earlier judgment that compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the party, saying the party has taken legal steps to counter the ruling.

“I want to thank all Nigerians for their support, solidarity, and prayers. As a matter of fact, since Friday, thousands of Nigerians have been flocking to our website to register. They now know more about our party, they sympathise with our party and our candidates, and they are flocking and buying into our vision of our party and our candidates. So, I thank them for their support and prayers.”
