‘Every Action Behind NDC Deregistration Ruling Frivolous’ – Dickson
The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has described every action behind the party’s deregistration ruling as frivolous and embarrassing.
Naija News recalls that a recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Lokoja set aside its earlier ruling directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
Reacting to the court ruling during an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television, Dickson said people are looking for flimsy excuses to truncate the political opposition, destabilise, weaken and scatter the political opposition.
Dickson maintained that the NDC remains a registered political party, noting that the ruling did not contain any mandatory order directing INEC to deregister the party.
He said, “Every action behind the deregistration ruling is frivolous and embarrassing. Right now, the NDC remains a registered political party.
“What people are trying to do is to look for flimsy excuses to truncate the political opposition, destabilise, weaken and scatter the political opposition.”
Meanwhile, the 2027 Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed a meeting with Dickson at his Abuja residence on Sunday.
According to him, the meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s unity, resilience, and strategic readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the meeting, Kwankwaso, who spoke against the backdrop of the recent court order against the NDC’s registration, said the ruling is a temporary setback and won’t be allowed to weaken the spirit of the party and its supporters.
He called on party members and supporters to rise above the current and every challenge.
