Our Presidential Candidate Not Moving To PRP – NDC Counters Bashir Ahmad

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has debunked reports that one of its presidential candidates is considering defecting to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) ahead of the 2027 elections.

The clarification follows a claim by former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, that one of the NDC presidential candidates is set to dump the party for PRP following the court order which reversed the party’s registration.

“I’m hearing reports that one of the NDC’s presidential candidates is considering a move to the PRP following the court judgment that removed the party from the list of recognized political parties. We will wait and see how events unfold,” Ahmad wrote on his 𝕏 account on Sunday.

However, in a swift reaction, the NDC has described the report as false.

Naija News reports that the NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, submitted that the NDC and all its supporters are committed to the party and ensuring the survival of democracy in Nigeria.

“This is false my brother. Our leaders have been meeting and are all committed to the NDC.

“Every single person in the NDC is committed to ensuring that multi-party democracy is protected and sustained in Nigeria,” Agada replied.
