Zamfara NDC Dismisses Deregistration Report, Urges Calm

The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State, Surajo Garba Maikatako, has described the party’s reported deregistration as a temporary legal challenge.

Naija News reports that Maikatako, in a statement issued on Sunday in Gusau, urged members and supporters of the party to remain calm and committed to democratic ideals.

He said the party remained legally recognised and operational, adding that its leadership had clarified the matter.

“The recent ruling by the Federal High Court is a decision we view as a temporary legal hurdle, not a death knell,” he said.

Maikatako maintained that the NDC had complied with all constitutional and legal requirements.

He added that the party’s structures remained intact from the polling unit level to the national level, while its candidates remained valid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The state chairman urged supporters in Zamfara to remain united and focused, saying the development should not discourage members.

He also expressed confidence in the national leadership of the party and described its governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, as central to the party’s political aspirations.

Naija News understands that Maikatako said the party would continue to pursue available legal options over the court ruling.
