Mr Ibu’s Children Drop Out Of School, Family Seeks Help

The family of late Nollywood actor and comedian, John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed for support over what it described as hardship since his death.

Naija News reports that the family spoke during a recent visit by content creator King Mitchy.

According to the family, Mr Ibu’s only daughter and two sons have dropped out of school due to unpaid fees.

The children’s mother also said they had been living without electricity and running water for weeks because they could not afford the bills.

“We fetched water from the well because I have not paid the house rent. They have even cut my light for two months now. No light since. We have been like that every night. We go to look for where to charge our phones, and it’s not easy,” she said.

Mr Ibu’s daughter appealed to Nigerians and her late father’s colleagues in the entertainment industry to assist the family.

“I want to thank God for my mom, and she tried everything she could to feed us, pay our school fees, and make us happy.

“So Nigerians, if you were in the industry with my dad, you’re seeing us now, come and meet us,” she pleaded.

The children’s mother also disclosed that the school had recently sent her a message about the children’s outstanding fees.

Okafor underwent a leg amputation in November 2023 after an illness that reportedly required several surgeries.

He died in Lagos on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62, following a cardiac arrest.
