Kebbi APC Chairman Suspended

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its State Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, and the party’s chairman in Zuru Local Government Area, Aliyu Abubakar Abiola, following allegations of poor leadership and failure to effectively mobilise party members.

The party said the decision was taken after an internal review of complaints lodged by stakeholders from the Zuru Emirate.

The development came as the Kebbi State Government also announced the suspension of the Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Kabir Alaramma, with immediate effect.

Naija News reports that in a statement signed by the APC State Secretary, Sa’idu Muhammad Kimba, the party said the complaints against Kana-Zuru and Abiola centred on what it described as their poor commitment to party affairs and inability to effectively engage party stakeholders.

According to the statement, the allegations included a lukewarm attitude towards party activities, inadequate consultation with critical stakeholders, poor mobilisation efforts and non-compliance with the party’s established principles and procedures.

The party said it carefully reviewed the allegations before arriving at its decision.

Following Kana-Zuru’s suspension, the APC announced that the Deputy State Chairman would immediately assume leadership of the party in an acting capacity pending further directives.

The statement also confirmed the suspension of Aliyu Abubakar Abiola as the APC chairman in Zuru Local Government Area.

The party, however, did not state the duration of the suspensions or indicate whether disciplinary proceedings would follow.

Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government announced the suspension of the Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Kabir Alaramma.

The suspension was conveyed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida.

According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.

The government directed Alaramma to hand over all government property, official documents and responsibilities in his custody to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry pending further action.

No reason was given, however, for the commissioner’s suspension.
