‘Peter Obi Abandons His Own People’ – Labour Party Chieftain, Ahanotu
Former National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has accused its ex-presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of failing to build enduring political structures and abandoning those who support him.
Naija News reports that Ahanotu, while speaking on TVC News, argued that the former Governor of Anambra State is not a builder of men.
According to Ahanotu, Peter Obi’s political history shows a pattern of moving from one platform to another without strengthening existing structures, stressing that genuine leadership requires developing institutions and empowering followers rather than relying solely on personal popularity.
He said, “Peter Obi is not a builder of men; he abandons his own people.”
Ahanotu maintained that strong political leadership should be measured by the ability to nurture loyal structures that survive beyond an individual’s influence.
Meanwhile, the Presidency recently criticised Peter Obi over his call for President Bola Tinubu to resign, describing the demand as reckless and lacking constitutional understanding.
In a statement on Tuesday morning, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to the President, Sunday Dare, said Obi’s latest comment was not the intervention of a statesman but “the outburst of a politician” unable to distinguish between political opposition and constitutional reality.
Naija News reports that Dare said Nigeria operates a constitutional presidential democracy where presidents are elected for fixed terms and can only leave office through elections, constitutional processes, incapacity or the expiration of their mandate.
“Nigeria is not a parliamentary system where governments rise and fall on votes of confidence. Nigeria is a constitutional presidential democracy,” he said.
He added that Obi, as a former governor and presidential candidate, should understand the constitutional foundations of the office he seeks to occupy.
The presidential aide accused Obi of embracing what he described as pessimism, alarmism and repeated declarations of national collapse.
