Nigeria Needs Leaders Who Serve Before Seeking Power — APC Senatorial Candidate

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District in the January 2027 general election, Kunle Adegoke, has said Nigeria’s development challenges can only be addressed through leadership rooted in service, accountability and public interest.

Naija News reports that Adegoke spoke in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, on June 21, 2026, while delivering a lecture titled, “Leadership Before Power, Service Before Position,” at the inaugural Emerging Leaders Dialogues and Q&A Series.
The event also featured the formal presentation of an honour by the Georgia House of Representatives in recognition of Adegoke’s contributions to the legal profession, human rights advocacy and democratic governance.

In his lecture, Adegoke said Nigeria needed leaders who understood that public office was not an end in itself but a platform for service and national transformation.

He addressed what he described as the leadership challenges facing Nigeria, stressing the need for value-driven leadership, public accountability and service-oriented governance.

According to him, the country’s economic, social and political difficulties require practical solutions driven by leaders who place the people above personal ambition.

The Georgia House of Representatives, in its resolution, described Adegoke as “an internationally respected legal practitioner, constitutional scholar, and human rights advocate.”

Speaking at the event, Georgia lawmaker, Hon. Terry Cummings, praised Adegoke’s courage and commitment to truth and public service.

“It’s people like you that are needed to change the lives of the people. I can see you speak truth to power and as you speak from your heart,” Cummings said.

Hon. Segun Adeyina also commended Adegoke’s commitment to democratic values and public service.

The legislative commendation was facilitated by five members of the Georgia House of Representatives, including Hon. Segun Adeyina of the 110th District, Hon. Adesanya of the 43rd District, Hon. Gabe Okoye of the 102nd District, Hon. Olaleye of the 59th District and Hon. El Mahdi Holly of the 116th District.
