Three Countries Eliminated From 2026 FIFA World Cup
Tunisia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to an abrupt end on Sunday after a crushing 4-0 defeat to Japan in Monterrey, making them the third nation to be knocked out of the tournament.
The Carthage Eagles, who were thrashed 5-1 by Sweden in their opening Group F fixture, have now lost both of their matches and remain without a point. With only one game left to play and a maximum of three points available, Tunisia can no longer qualify for the Round of 32.
Tunisia’s exit came shortly after Haiti and Türkiye became the first teams eliminated from the competition.
In Philadelphia, five-time world champions Brazil eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Haiti in Group C, ending the Caribbean side’s hopes of progressing. The defeat left Haiti rooted to the bottom of the group with no points from two matches and a goal difference of minus four.
Haiti will now play Morocco on June 24 in a match that will have no bearing on qualification.
Türkiye also saw their World Cup journey come to an early end after suffering a 1-0 loss to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Group D.
Naija News reports that the defeat was Türkiye’s second in as many matches, leaving them without a point and mathematically unable to advance to the knockout stage despite having one group game remaining.
