Voters Turn Out Early In Ado-Ekiti

There was an impressive voter turnout at some polling units in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Saturday, as residents trooped out early for the governorship election.

At Ward 4, Units 1 and 2, Saint Michael Primary School, Ijigbo, many voters, including elderly residents, arrived before the scheduled 8:30 am commencement of voting.

However, voting had not started as of 8:45am due to a malfunction in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System. The glitch was later resolved, and the first voter at Unit 2 cast his ballot at exactly 8:49 am.

The Presiding Officer, Mutiat Aliyu, confirmed the hitch.

“It initially did not come up, but it is working now,” she said.

Candidates in the election include Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Opeyemi Falegan of the Accord Party (A), Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party (LP) and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Others are Bidemi Awogbemi of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Ayodeji Ojo of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Samuel Akande of the African Action Congress (AAC), Olaniyi Ayodele of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Victor Adetunji of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Olu Omotoso of Action Alliance (AA), Joseph Anifowose of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and Ayodele Osinkolu of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
