It Could Be Your Children Tomorrow – Emeka Ike Warns Leaders Over Insecurity
Nollywood actor Emeka Ike joined protesters in Abuja on Friday as Nigerians marked the June 12 Democracy Day with demonstrations against the growing security challenges across the country.
The actor, who recently ventured into politics, used the occasion to call on the Federal Government to take stronger action against insecurity.
Naija News reports that the he expressed concern over the activities of bandits and kidnappers, saying the situation has affected the daily lives of many citizens, including his ability to travel freely by road.
According to him, travelling by road from Lagos to Imo State used to be one of his favourite experiences, but worsening insecurity has made such journeys difficult and risky.
He said; “I drive all the way from Lagos to Imo State. That’s the best journey in my life.
“I love road travel. But today, I am denied my best form of travel. It is the time of my best form of travel. We are begging the government, please don’t let this go too far.
“It might be your children tomorrow. Let’s stop bandits from taking over our country. If our country is taken over, where will all of us work? Where are we going to be? Some people can travel overseas and have homes there. Those of us who are here, we are here. We will live here and die here.”
