Their Only Offence Is The Color Of Their Skin – Dabiri-Erewa Speaks On 258 Nigerians Evacuated From South Africa

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has stated that the 258 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa committed no crime.

Naija News reports that the Chairman of the Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stated this on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television.

She lamented that the only crime they committed was the colour of their skin, because they are black immigrants in the country.

Dabiri-Erewa was speaking on the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa, expressing happiness at the effort of President Bola Tinubu, ensuring that they returned to Nigeria.

She also disclosed that network provider, MTN gave each returnee ₦100,000 with ₦50,000 airtime.

“I tell you something about those 258 that came in. None of them committed any crime. The only crime they committed is the colour of their skin. They are black migrants in South Africa.

“We are happy that President Tinubu ensured their return. Then also on ground was MTN, who gave ₦100,000 naira to each one of them and transferred to them ₦50,000 airtime.

“So now, we are onto the reintegration stage. It was a very seamless multi-agency collaboration, and we call on state governors to do what Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State did. He gave one million naira to each Imo indigene among the returnees,” NIDCOM boss said.
