I Heard Tinubu Secretly Went To Visit Nnamdi Kanu In Prison – Charly Boy
Veteran singer Charles Oputa also known as Charly Boy has reacted to reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu visited detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in prison.
In his post on his 𝕏 page, Charly Boy questioned whether any real discussion took place during the alleged visit.
Naija News reports that the activist also criticized the situation, saying the government has not been able to address some security challenges while showing attention to Kanu’s case.
He went further to express concern about the state of the country, warning that Nigeria could face serious consequences if issues affecting national security are not properly handled.
He wrote: “Oga Tinubu, I hear say you secretly go visit Nnamdi Kanu for prison. Una talk better? I just wan warn you. As you no fit catch 1 terrorist but always flexing for Nnamdi. Nigeria will soon fall on youoooooo.”
Kanu was first arrested in 2015 by Nigerian authorities over allegations linked to terrorism, treason, and running an unlawful group. He was later granted bail in 2017 but left the country after a military operation in his hometown.
In 2021, he was arrested again abroad and returned to Nigeria, a move that later sparked legal disputes and public criticism.
His trial resumed with the Federal Government accusing him of inciting violence through broadcasts and activities connected to his group.
In 2022, an appeal court discharged him and questioned how he was brought back to Nigeria, but legal battles continued as fresh steps were taken to revive the charges.
The trial went on for years, drawing attention across the country, especially in the South-East, where his supporters staged protests and sit-at-home actions demanding his release.
In November 2025, a Federal High Court in Abuja found him guilty on multiple terrorism-related charges. The court ruled that his actions and statements contributed to violence and unrest. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
