Nobody Can Come Between Me And My Boss, Peter Obi — Datti Baba-Ahmed
Former Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed speculation of a rift between himself and his former principal, Peter Obi.
Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed said nobody would be able to cause a problem between him and the former Anambra State governor.
He stated this on Sunday during an interview on Channels Television’s Inside Sources with Laolu Akande.
Baba-Ahmed said he still respects Obi despite their movement into different political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “Let me say that nobody will cause a problem between me and my boss, Peter Obi.
“He can be at any party today. I still have respect for him as someone who governed Anambra State, as someone who doesn’t give the ‘shi-shi’, and we have mutual respect for each other, so nobody will come between us.”
Baba-Ahmed was Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party.
However, ahead of the 2027 elections, the two politicians moved to different political parties.
Baba-Ahmed joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), while Obi defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), where he has emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
In other news, Baba-Ahmed, has stated that former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, would have had a stronger chance in the 2027 election if he had been patient.
Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed asserted that Atiku would have had a chance of winning the 2027 presidency if he had supported Peter Obi in 2023.
According to him, if the former vice president had been patient and had acted like President Bola Tinubu, who offered others a political platform to contest the presidential election, he (Baba-Ahmed) would have agreed to step down in 2027 and urged Obi to do the same.
