Kano Ex-PDP Deputy Gov Candidate Joins APC

The former Kano State deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Yusuf Dambatta, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Dambatta announced his exit from the PDP in a statement released on Sunday.

He said the decision to join the APC followed careful consideration and wide consultations with his leaders, political associates, supporters and stakeholders.

Dambatta said he believed the APC offered a better platform for him to contribute to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.

“I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress. This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders,” the statement read.

The former PDP candidate said he was motivated by what he described as the growing spirit of inclusiveness within the APC.

“I am equally motivated by the growing spirit of inclusiveness within the APC, the party’s commitment to the welfare of the people, and the opportunity to contribute more effectively to the advancement of our state and nation,” he said.

He also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership and the Kano First Agenda.

“I am deeply inspired by the visionary leadership of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the transformative Kano First Agenda, which has demonstrated a clear commitment to good governance, human capital development, infrastructure renewal, and the overall progress of Kano State,” Dambatta added.

Dambatta reaffirmed his commitment to public service, unity, peace, prosperity and sustainable development.

He also thanked PDP leaders and members for the relationships and experiences shared over the years.

“I look forward to working with members of the APC and all well-meaning citizens in support of the Kano First Agenda and the continued development of our dear state,” he said.
