I Stand By What I Said About Gov. Makinde – Fayose Insists (Video)

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has refused to back down on his claim that the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, might be responsible for the recent kidnapping of pupils and teachers in the state.

Speaking during another interview on ektv, Fayose acknowledged that his words had raised reactions and controversy from various quarters, but insisted that he only spoke the truth.

According to him, he is a former Governor and understands how security issues should be handled.

He insisted that it is the duty of any Governor to escalate security issues beyond his control to the federal government for intervention.

Naija News recalls that Fayose had alleged that the recent kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area might have been orchestrated by the Oyo State government.

He alleged the complicity of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in the kidnapping incident.

The former Governor made the allegation on Monday while speaking during an interview on Channels Television.

According to him, the kidnapping might have been planned to blackmail President Bola Tinubu.

Fayose, who had earlier praised Tinubu’s efforts in managing the affairs of Nigeria since he became President, said the timing of the Oyo kidnap raised suspicion about Makinde’s probable involvement.

Speaking during another interview on ektv, Fayose said he has no regrets about his claim about Makinde.

The former Governor, who spoke in a mixture of Yoruba and English languages during the programme said in part, “People have been abusing me about what I said about Seyi Makinde during the interview with Seun Okinbaloye. I mean everything I said.

“Before issues get to Abuja, it will get to the states and local governments. The Oyo State Governor can’t deny that he receives allocation, and every state governor faces one challenge or the other.”

Fayose also faulted those calling for the resignation of President Tinubu over the security challenges in the country.

According to him, such persons should wait and express their views through the ballots in 2027 instead of turning kidnappings into politics.
