Aisha Yesufu Reassures Supporters After FCT Senate Ticket Setback

Activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has reassured her supporters following the controversy surrounding the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial ticket for the Federal Capital Territory.

Naija News reports that Yesufu told supporters across the six area councils of the FCT that the setback would not affect the broader political cause she represents.

The reassurance came amid discontent among her supporters over the NDC senatorial nomination process, which denied her the ticket despite what her backers described as widespread grassroots support.

Yesufu met with party officials, stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, women and grassroots mobilisers across Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Bwari and Kuje Area Councils.

The meetings were held to thank supporters for their loyalty and reaffirm her commitment to political participation, accountable leadership and national development.

Yesufu said the political struggle was not about individual ambition but about good governance and improved opportunities for Nigerians.

“The movement has always been bigger than any individual ambition. The ultimate objective remains the pursuit of good governance and the creation of opportunities that will improve the lives of Nigerians,” she said.

She urged her supporters to remain united and focused on efforts to secure a better future for the country.

“The struggle for a prosperous, secure and equitable Nigeria requires the active involvement of citizens at every level,” she added.

Yesufu stressed the importance of political participation, voter mobilisation and sustained grassroots organisation as tools for meaningful change.

She also called on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at strengthening governance and democratic accountability.

Supporters at the meetings expressed concern over what they described as the unjust denial of the FCT senatorial ticket to Yesufu.

They, however, said the development would not weaken their commitment to broader political and governance reforms.

“The development will not diminish our resolve to continue working towards the broader goal of national transformation,” they said.
