2027: Lagos APC Announces Deputy Governorship Candidate
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly selected Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Lagos State.
Naija News understands that she will contest alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, as the ruling party begins preparations for the next governorship poll in the state.
Sonayon-James, who hails from Badagry, is widely known within the party for her involvement in grassroots politics and her support for greater participation of women in leadership and public service.
According to Vanguard, she currently serves as the Deputy State Chairman of the APC in Lagos. Before attaining that position, she worked as the party’s State Assistant Woman Leader and was actively involved in various party activities across the state.
Her political experience also includes service at the local government level. She previously held office as Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area, where she participated in the administration of community development programmes.
Beyond politics, Sonayon-James has built a career in business and sustainability management. She has worked in areas such as human resources, logistics and corporate sustainability. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of DGS Chauffeurs and Logistics.
Academically, she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. She also obtained a degree in Business and Human Resources Management from University of Hull.
An official announcement from the party is expected in the coming days.
