Rivers: ‘Come Back Home Because Rainbow Coalition Will Be For Another 8 Years’ – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged aggrieved politicians in the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara, to return to the Rainbow Coalition.
Naija News reports that Wike spoke in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, during a luncheon for the coalition’s candidates.
Wike said he has forgiven all those who opposed him politically in Rivers State, appealing to them to join the Rainbow Coalition, which will win in 2027 and remain in power for eight years.
He said, “If you’re talking about the governorship election in Rivers State, it’s gone. If you’re talking about the presidential election, it’s gone.
“Let me advise you, I’m using this platform to say that I’ve forgiven everybody.
“Come back home sincerely. Because 8 years of politics is something else. This rainbow coalition will not only win next year. We’ll be here for another 8 years.
“But I won’t lie to you; if you’re thinking that any miracle will happen to upturn us, it’s a lie. We’re very much on alert anytime, any day.”
In other news, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the decision of Wike to deny the party access to a public event centre in Abuja for the affirmation of its presidential candidate.
Atiku accused President Bola Tinubu of using state institutions to frustrate opposition parties and undermine the democratic process.
The former vice president shared his reservations in a statement issued by his media office.
He described the action as a violation of constitutional rights and evidence of what he called increasing intolerance towards opposition politics under the current administration.
