Rivers: Gov Fubara Delivers Third Year Goodwill Message
The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the “Rivers First” mantra, saying the philosophy has continued to shape government policies and programmes in the last three years.
Naija News reports that Fubara stated this in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, to mark the third anniversary of his administration.
The governor said his government had remained focused on placing the interest, welfare and development of Rivers people above every other consideration.
According to him, the “Rivers First” philosophy was not a mere slogan but a guiding principle that had influenced the administration’s choices in infrastructure, education, health, peace, security and economic development.
Fubara said his administration’s investments in road infrastructure were aimed at linking rural communities with urban centres and creating fresh economic opportunities for residents across the state.
He explained that the vision to transform Rivers State into a major investment hub informed the execution of key road projects across the state.
The governor listed some of the projects to include the Port Harcourt Ring Road, Trans-Kalabari Highway, Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road, and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road.
He said the projects were designed to improve movement, ease transportation, strengthen commerce and bring more communities into the state’s development plan.
Fubara added that his administration would continue to prioritise projects capable of improving the lives of ordinary people and expanding the economic potential of Rivers State.
The governor also said his administration had taken steps to strengthen the education and healthcare sectors, while sustaining efforts to promote peace and security across the state.
He noted that development could only be meaningful when citizens had access to basic services, safe communities and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Fubara expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the state, assuring them that public funds would continue to be used for the benefit of the people.
He attributed the achievements recorded by his administration in the last three years to the cooperation, resilience and enterprise of Rivers people.
“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible,” he said.
Fubara pledged to continue leading the state with transparency, adding that every project and policy of his administration would reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
He admitted that there was still more work to be done and urged elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, farmers, artisans and professionals to continue contributing to the development of Rivers State.
The governor said the task of building a stronger state required the support and participation of all residents, regardless of age, occupation or background.
Fubara also congratulated Rivers people and Nigerians on the country’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.
He described the milestone as evidence that Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups could coexist peacefully and continue to move forward together.
The governor said democracy remained the best platform for promoting unity, accountability and development, urging Nigerians to continue working together in the interest of the country.
