Bello El-Rufai Wins Kaduna North ADC Reps Ticket Unopposed

The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bello El-Rufai, has emerged as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Naija News reports that El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, won the ADC primary unopposed.

In a statement on Saturday, the federal lawmaker said he polled 7,727 votes during the primary election.

El-Rufai thanked party leaders, delegates, stakeholders and supporters for backing his candidacy.

He said, “Alhamdulillah. I am deeply honoured and humbled to emerge unopposed as the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress for Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the just-concluded primary election, with a total of 7,727 votes.

“I sincerely thank the leadership of the party, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and the good people of Kaduna North for this overwhelming show of trust and confidence.

“I have served diligently for three years alongside my team.”

The lawmaker, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the ADC, denied claims that he supported or financed opposition parties while in the ruling party.

He said, “Let me explain this. While in the APC. I have never related to the opposition. I have never financed them. My father knew better to ask me to.

“There is still honour in politics. I hope to embody it. I am now in the ADC, proudly, let me assure you or anyone that doubts this, I will canvass for our party with pleasure and they know my record. We fear no one.”

El-Rufai won the Kaduna North Federal Constituency seat in 2023 on the platform of the APC.
