Atiku Defeats Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen In Yobe ADC Primary
Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has taken an early lead in the ongoing presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Results from Bolewa and Potiskum in Yobe State showed that Atiku defeated former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
According to results announced by the returning officer, Atiku polled 740 votes, while Amaechi scored 15 votes. Hayatu-Deen secured two votes.
Naija News reports that the ADC presidential primary is ongoing across 8,809 wards nationwide.
Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen are contesting for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
Amaechi cast his vote at his Ubima Ward in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Hayatu-Deen voted in Jare, Borno State.
Atiku cast his vote at Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State.
In a post on 𝕏, the former Vice-President commended the conduct of the primary and described it as democracy in action.
Atiku wrote, “I joined other prospective voters of the African Democratic Congress in our party’s presidential primaries in casting my vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. This is democracy at work.
“The election taking place simultaneously in 8,809 Wards in Nigeria is a major step in our quest to recover our beloved country and set it on the path of prosperity.”
