Tragedy As Mother Of Quintuplets Dies After Delivery At Kano Hospital

Tragedy has struck in Kano following the death of a woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, who recently gave birth to quintuplets at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

Naija News learnt that the woman reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday, just hours after delivering the five babies, three boys and two girls.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, said the woman died around 2 am at the hospital.

According to him, she suffered persistent bleeding after childbirth, and all medical efforts to save her life proved abortive.

“She had been bleeding since after delivery, and all efforts by doctors to control the situation were unsuccessful,” he said.

K/Na’isa disclosed that the deceased had since been buried in line with Islamic traditions at her residence in Hotoro.

He also appealed to members of the public to support the newborns, who now face life without their mother.

“We are appealing to the public to support the babies with milk and other essential items,” he added.

Despite the loss, the ministry confirmed that the quintuplets are in stable condition and are currently receiving medical care at the hospital.

Medical personnel are said to be closely monitoring the babies to ensure their survival and well-being.

The incident comes barely a day after the Kano State Government announced that it had taken responsibility for the medical care of the mother and her children following the successful delivery.

In an earlier statement, the ministry had disclosed that both the mother and the newborns were placed under special medical care.

The husband of the deceased, Malam Salisu Nufi’u, had earlier expressed appreciation to the state government for its intervention, describing it as timely support.

The government also reiterated its commitment to improving maternal and child healthcare services and reducing mortality rates across the state.
